31n Grant Support

31n awardees work directly with consultants in building capacity to develop a strong mental health support system to assist students. 31n providers, administrators and others meet regularly to network, ask questions, and gain guidance throughout the process. 31n school districts also receive guided data documentation support.

Behavioral and Mental Health Support

A range of supports that include Student Problem Solving and other consultations to help school teams improve student support. This incudes specialized mental health programming and psychiatric evaluation. This is for students with IEPs only and may be accessed through a district service request.

Behavioral Threat Assessment & Management

Behavioral threat assessment and management (BTAM) is a multidisciplinary, fact-based, systematic process designed to identify, assess, and manage potentially dangerous or violent situations. Our consultants can provide support and guidance for conducting student threat assessments.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) in the Schools

Cognitive behavioral therapy programs help students develop strategies to solve problems, regulate emotions, and establish helpful patterns of thought and behavior. Staff learn how to assist students in this process.

Developing a Cardiac and Medical Response Team

School emergency planning is crucial to the safety of our students, especially those with chronic health conditions. In this training we will help your school establish a Cardiac and Medical Response Team. The training also assists your local school district in working towards or establishing a Board Approved Cardiac Emergency Response Plan.

Prerequisites:

Participants who are trained in CPR/first aid/ AED usage, Blood Borne Pathogens, Safe and Legal Support of Students' Health and Medication Needs, or Medication Administration training provided by a licensed registered professional nurse, physician, or physician assistant who knows local school medication policies and procedures.

Mental Health Consultation

Consultation and professional learning support around the developing and implementing a comprehensive school mental health system, integrating work around Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports (PBIS), Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), Social Emotional Learning, Community Resource Mapping, 31n(6)/C4s services, and more.  Individual district consultation and professional learning are available.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) in schools

Motivational Interviewing (MI) in schools is a facilitative, short-term approach to help students deal with their ambivalence about the behavior changes they are considering. It is student-focused and collaborative in its approach.

Nonviolent crisis intervention (NCI)

Teaches staff de-escalation, conflict resolution, and physical management skills for use with verbally & physically acting out students. It allows for staff to gain the knowledge and skills for early response and how to effectively prevent or defuse a behavioral escalation.

Oakland County Truancy Program

The Oakland County Prosecutor, the school superintendents of the 28 public districts in Oakland County, and Oakland Schools have joined in partnership to develop the Early Truancy Intervention Program. This is a collaborative effort to help children who are not regularly attending school.

PREPaRE

PREPaRE is a comprehensive, nationally supported training curriculum developed by educators for educators. PREPaRE consists of 2 workshops designed to address crisis preparedness, response and mitigation, and recovery. PREPaRE provides school-based mental health professionals and safety/crisis team members with the tools they need to be ready to address a crisis when it happens.

Psychiatric Solution-Finding Meetings

Opportunity for district team, parents, student to discuss issues of concern with the contracted psychiatrist. The meetings generate ideas & suggestions for the district & family to consider in their work with the student around the issues of concern. The student must have current active IEP.

Supporting Students with Allergies and Anaphylaxis

Allergies are common worldwide; the symptoms range from mild to life-threatening reactions. Oakland Schools ISD offers training on epinephrine auto-injector administration. The training and information provided align with the MDE Model Policy on Medication Administration in Schools.
