In 2021, Oakland Schools was given approval by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to create 20-25 minute sessions based on the Michigan Model for Health Social and Emotional skills and combining restorative circles as a way to reinforce the Tier 1 CASEL SELect program in advisory/seminars at the MS and HS level, while building community in these multi-grade groups.

PREPaRE is a comprehensive, nationally supported training curriculum developed by educators for educators. PREPaRE consists of 2 workshops designed to address crisis preparedness, response and mitigation, and recovery. PREPaRE provides school-based mental health professionals and safety/crisis team members with the tools they need to be ready to address a crisis when it happens.

This project is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan to help young people in crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.
