Student Foreign Exchange Program

Oakland Schools provides services to the local school districts in Oakland County that participate in the Oakland Schools Student Foreign Exchange Program (OSSFEP) and want to provide an international cultural experience for high school students.

Oakland Schools contracts with a company called Educatius International that works with us to operate a high-quality foreign exchange program. Educatius is a leader in the industry, facilitating cultural exchange opportunities for approximately 6,000 students per year from more than 30 countries.

Educatius International provides students, families and school districts with the following resources:

  • A $3,000 stipend per student to host families to offset costs for hosting an international student in their home. (Must be able to provide a private room or one that can be shared with a host family child, three meals per day and a supportive home environment);
  • An orientation program for the international students, host families, and the school;
  • Access to a local residential coordinator who is available twenty-four hours a day;
  • Support as needed from Educatius International staff; Access to a 24/7 emergency hotline.
