Exciting News: Oakland ACE Early College Welcomes Lawrence Technological University as a College Partner!

Lawrence Tech University

Oakland Schools is proud to announce a new partnership with Lawrence Technological University (LTU) for our Oakland ACE Early College (ACE) and Oakland Technical Early College (OTEC) programs. Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, this collaboration offers students expanded opportunities at the same cost as current ACE and OTEC intergovernmental agreements.

For years, students in ACE and OTEC have benefited from Oakland Community College (OCC) as an early college partner. However, with the upcoming closure of OCC’s Highland Lakes Campus in 2025, we have carefully analyzed enrollment and course data to identify the districts most affected. Our findings highlight that students from the Southwest quadrant of Oakland County—including *Clarenceville, Farmington, Huron Valley, Novi, South Lyon, Walled Lake, and Waterford are most likely to experience an impact.

To address this need, LTU will provide courses for 11th-grade students at the Southwest Oakland Schools Technical Campus (OSTC) beginning in 2025. This strategic move will reduce travel time, enhance accessibility, and ensure a smooth transition. In future years, students will also gain access to LTU’s Southfield campus and online course options, expanding their academic pathways.

We are thrilled about this new opportunity and remain committed to providing innovative early college experiences that support student success.

During the 2025-2026 school year incoming Juniors will have the opportunity to

  • Attend weekly Seminar at OSTC Southwest Campus (Wixom) Thursday from 2-3:30
  • Take two Lawrence Tech classes at the OSTC Southwest Campus: PSY 1213 - Introductory Psychology and COM 2113 - Speech

These courses will be taught by LTU professors Febwho travel to OSTC SW. Textbooks and technology will be provided. Students will attend a summer orientation to prepare to be successful during the school year.

Students can also choose to combine LTU courses with OCC courses and/or traveling to an Oakland Schools Seminar held at an OCC Campus.

Oakland County School Districts affected by the closing of OCC’s Highland Lakes Campust were asked if they want to participate in the new LTU partnership. As of March 11, 2025, this opportunity is open to students who attend public schools in the ClarencevilleFarmingtonHuron Valley, South Lyon, Walled Lake and Waterford districts.

Oakland Community College

Oakland Community College

Oakland ACE program partners with Oakland Community College (OCC) to bring Early College opportunities to our students.

Each OCC campus dedicates an OCC counselor who is available to work with our students. OCC's Academic Support Centers are important resources for our students. Students who participate in free tutoring at ASCs find the support highly useful.
