ACE and OCC Early College Partnership
Academic
Oakland ACE students work towards an Associates Degrees at OCC:
- Associates of Arts
- Associates of Business Administration
- Associates of Science
- Other degree programs are available.
Students with IEP's or 504 plans will find OCC provides excellent options for student supports in college. OCC's ACCESS Team located on each campus helps ensure student success.
Counseling
Each OCC campus dedicates an OCC counselor who is available to work with our students.
OCC counselors collaborate with our ACE counselor to ensure students register for classes that align with future goals:
- Students who want to transfer to an in state four year university have guidance in maximizing transfer credits. Students focus on taking courses from the Michigan Transfer Agreement
- Students who want to remain at OCC plan what courses to complete to earn desired degrees.
Flexibility
The pandemic introduced students and families to a variety of learning environments. Many students desire flexible learning opportunities like Early College. Spending time at their home high school and OCC's campus creates flexibility in a students day that fits many learning styles.
OCC's Campuses are safe, moderately sized, updated and great environments for students to begin their college experience. Libraries, community collaboration spaces and other amenities provide students additional learning environments from which to choose.
Preference
OCC houses three Michigan Early College Programs. They are excellent partners in providing resources for our students. OCC's Associate Dean of College Readiness and Secondary School Partnerships dedicates energy and time into ensuring Early College student success.
OCC college professors have experience working with our younger aged learners and have proved excellent partners.
OCC's Academic Support Centers are important resources for our students. Students who participate in free tutoring at ASCs find the support highly useful.
