Students who complete the above pre-enrollment process will get an Oakland ACE tentative acceptance email. This email is sent once per month to students who applied that month. This pattern will be repeated every month through June 2023.
STEP 2: Complete OCC Application
Tips for Students Who Receive Tentative Oakland ACE Acceptance
-
Strongly encouraged to attend a virtual admissions session with Oakland ACE and OCC staff.
-
The first session for the 2023-2024 school year is March 2nd at 3PM.
-
Students will be invited to attend this virtual meeting via email.
-
During the meeting students will be assisted through all OCC application steps by OCC admissions staff.
-
Students will leave the meeting fully enrolled at OCC with access to MyOCC, email, and student numbers assigned.
-
-
Once this step is completed, students will schedule a required appointment with OCC counselors. During this appointment you will choose two Fall 2023 classes. This step should be completed by March 24th so that we can take advantage of the priority scheduling window.
The above process is repeated monthly through June with students being accepted.
Students who prefer to complete OCC application on their own could follow the steps 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 listed on OCC's Website.
Notice:
Step 4 - you will not complete FAFSA until the final year of the program.
Step 5 - Students will NOT take the ALEKS Math Placement until after year one in the program. Students WILL take the English placement and must place in to ENG 1510, 1510E or higher to join the program.
Step 6 - When you make an appointment to see an OCC counselor let them know you are an Oakland ACE student. Several counselors know more about our program than others and their names are listed next to each campus location.
Make your counseling appointment at the campus which you will take the majority of your classes and try to schedule with the counselors listed when possible: Auburn Hills (Mary Thomas and Scott Kokotovich), Highland Lakes (Michael Zelinski), Orchard RIdge (Rasheeda Wright), Royal Oak and Southfield (Penny McKenzie).
STEP 3: Register for Classes via MyOCC
Oakland ACE students during your counselor appointment you will complete a registration form together. The OCC Counselor will submit your registration form to Oakland ACE staff who then turn it into the enrollment office for processing.
