Microsoft Detroit Regional Headquarters and Microsoft Philanthropies Welcome Oakland County Educators
On December 4th, Oakland County educators were invited to tour the Technology Center located in the new Microsoft Detroit Regional Headquarters in the Compuware Building. The visit highlighted technologies Microsoft is bringing to market and services they provide to their customers.
Following the tour, Andrew Spiece, Regional Manager of Microsoft Philanthropies TEALS, engaged participants in a conversation around Microsoft’s vision for “Computer Science in Every High school.” Their innovative approach to teacher professional development partners a technology industry professional with a teacher to deploy lessons with students.
Shavonne Smith, Microsoft Learning Consultant, followed the conversation with a presentation about the Microsoft Imagine Academy. This program provides students and educators access to curricula and industry relevant certifications that are needed for future success in our tech-driven workplaces. A grant from the Michigan Department of Education provides these resources to Michigan Schools.
As a thank you for attending, participants were provided free access to the Computer Science Curriculum that Microsoft professionals have developed to implement in high school classrooms. Participants indicated the experience was very informative and they look forward to implementing the provided lesson resources in their classrooms.
