International Student Exchange Program
Oakland Schools provides services to the local school districts in Oakland County that participate in the Oakland Schools International Student Exchange Program and want to provide an international cultural experience for high school students.
Oakland Schools contracts with a placement agency that works with us to provide a high-quality international student exchange program. Student Management Group provides students, families, and school districts with the following resources:
- A $4,000 stipend per student to host families to offset costs for hosting an international student in their home. (Must be able to provide a private room or one that can be shared with a host family child, three meals per day and a supportive home environment);
- An orientation program for the international students, host families, and the school;
- Access to a local residential coordinator who is available twenty-four hours a day;
- Support as needed from SMG staff with access to a 24/7 emergency hotline.
