Our mission is to empower educators to ignite students' curiosity, critical thinking, and civic engagement. We support teachers in creating inclusive and rigorous classrooms where students not only understand diverse perspectives but also actively engage as informed citizens in a democratic society. Through professional learning, innovative instructional design including the MC3 Curriculum and resources grounded in the latest research, we strive to elevate social studies education to cultivate a generation of reflective, responsible, and empowered individuals.

Social Studies Leadership Network
Social Studies leaders and their teams are invited to join the Oakland Schools Social Studies Leadership Network. This group constitutes a powerful network of social studies leaders in the county and region who come together to learn, problem solve, and provide leadership for the direction of social studies in our schools, districts, and region. We encourage districts to send teams of social studies leaders (in both formal and informal leadership roles).
