We are proud to host events celebrating the achievements of Oakland County students, teachers, and the community.
The Oakland County Outstanding Teacher of the Year Awards are presented annually to honor and reward teachers in Oakland County who have achieved, through their effort and example, the highest standards of excellence in their profession. Oakland Schools has created these awards out of a conviction that a quality public education system is essential to the health and vitality of our community.
In 1991, a partnership began between Oakland Schools and DENSO International to fund scholarships for students attending Oakland Schools Technical Campuses. Scholarship awards are based on interest and participation in Career Technical Education, academic achievement and career goals.
Michigan Green Schools is dedicated to assisting all Michigan schools public and private achieve environmental goals that include protecting the air, land, water and animals of our state through promotion of good ecological practices and environmental stewardship by students pre-kindergarten through high school.
The Oakland Schools Scripps Spelling Bee is open to students in Oakland County grades 5-8. Individual home-schooled children and home school associations can enroll as well. Each winter, students who win their school spelling bees are invited to participate. The winner receives an all-expense paid trip to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee held in Washington D.C. the last week of May.
Candidates must be employed in a support position in a local district – transportation, maintenance, custodial, office personnel, food services, or professional support to teachers (including para-educators).
