Provide Alternative Text (Level A – SC 1.1.1)

All meaningful images must include descriptive alt text.

Requirements:

• Describe the purpose and key message of the image.

• Include essential text shown in the image.

• Decorative images should be marked as decorative (if platform allows).

Example:

• Avoid: "Team photo"

• Correct: "Five team members standing in front of company logo at the 2026 Annual Conference."

Audio-Only Content (Podcasts, Voice Posts)

Transcript Required (Level A – SC 1.2.1)

Provide a complete transcript.

Captions Required (Level A – SC 1.2.2)

All videos with audio must include:

• Synchronized captions

• Dialogue

• Meaningful sounds (e.g., [applause], [laughter], [music])

Auto-captions must be reviewed for accuracy.

Audio Description (Level AA – SC 1.2.5)

If important visual information is not spoken in the audio:

• Provide audio description, OR

• Ensure the script includes all necessary visual information.

If the video is "naturally described," no separate Audio Description is required.

Provide Transcript (Best Practice)

If captions exist, transcripts are strongly recommended:

• Improves usability

• Supports users who prefer reading

• Helps with search indexing

Text Contrast (Level AA – SC 1.4.3)

Text over images or video must meet contrast ratio:

• 4.5:1 for normal text

• 3:1 for large text (18pt+ or 14pt bold)

Use descriptive link text.

Example:

• Avoid: "Click here"

• Correct: "Read the 2026 Accessibility Report"

Level A – SC 2.3.1

Web content must not contain anything that flashes more than three times in any one-second period, unless the flashing is below the general flash and red flash thresholds. The goal is to reduce the risk of triggering seizures and other adverse physical reactions. Flashing content can cause seizures, migraines, dizziness, and nausea in some individuals.
