Oakland Schools has hired Dr. Pamela Scales as assistant superintendent of Finance and Operations. She will begin her tenure Nov. 4.

In this position, Scales will lead Finance and Operations and a variety of auxiliary services.

“Dr. Scales has the expertise to ensure the finance and operations divisions of Oakland Schools continue to operate smoothly and efficiently. We are happy to have her on board,” said Oakland Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Wanda Cook-Robinson.  

Scales joins Oakland Schools after a 33-year public finance career in the City of Detroit; most recently serving as its deputy chief financial officer. She also currently serves as associate faculty for the University of Phoenix and as a lecturer for the University of Michigan – Dearborn.

Scales has a Doctorate of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Detroit Mercy and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.
