What is eSurvey?
eSurvey is an online survey tool utilized by school district personnel that provides quick feedback for data gathering, consensus, opinions, general information or to communicate organizational issues. The survey can be distributed using several methods, including:
- Email - Accessed from an email message
- Internet - Accessed from the OS Internet
Additionally, there are three types of electronic surveys including Departmental, Internal, and External. Departmental surveys are usually more informal, approved or denied by a department designate and are distributed within a department. Internal and External surveys are more formal in nature and are approved or denied by a Communication Services designate. It is recommended that departments creating External surveys request input from Dr. Lindson Feun regarding for technical format and statement development.
What is the process for creating an eSurvey?
The process for creating an online survey includes the following steps:
- Logon to the eSurvey website (survey.oakland.k12.mi.us)
- Note: if you do not have an assigned userid or password, contact the Oakland Schools Helpdesk (248.209.2060) for further instructions. District staff should check with their communications director to see if a district ID and password is available for use.
- Create survey
- Send survey for approval
- Upon approval, send survey hyperlink (website address) indicating survey location to survey participants
- Responses will be collected automatically and available as a Portable Document Format (PDF) file.
If the survey is approved, the survey author will receive an email message indicating its approval status and a hyperlink (website address) of survey location.
If the survey is denied, the survey author will receive an email message indicating reasons for denial. Denials are usually caused by typographical and grammatical errors, and statement format. The survey author is asked to modify the survey to fix error(s) and resubmit for approval.
