1. Do you know the compulsory school atttendance law?

2. Are you familiar with the Oakland County Truancy Program, including the Oakland County Truancy Task Force and the Early Intervention Truancy Protocol?

3. Do you have an attendance problem at your school?

4. Do you have an attendance policy for K-12 students? Does it differentiate between excused and unexcused absences? Does it require a parent phone call? Does the parent phone call make the absence an excused absence or is additional documentation required?

5. Do you promote positive school attendance? Have you heard about the 3As--attendance + attachment = achievement

1. Have you developed positive attendance practices? Do you encourage and promote school attendance?

2. Do you tell parents about the importance of positive school attendance?

3. Have you identified the primary reasons students miss school in your community?

4. Have you made any community agency referrals; Youth Assistance, Comon Ground Sanctuary?

5. Have you developed action plans to improve a student’s attendance and utilized school and community resources but the student’s attendance has not improved?

1. Do you review and reassess your attendance practices annually?

2. Do you collect data on student attendance in your building?

3. Have you met No Child Left Behind Graduation/Attendance Rates?
