THE OAKLAND SCHOOLS INFORMATION CENTER

 

The Oakland Schools Information Center provides professional materials in print and online including books, videos, databases and periodicals for K-12 educators and administrators. The Oakland Schools Information Media Consultant provides database searches, consultations and professional development to assist the K-12 community to enhance and extend their abilities to teach and learn, make decisions, collaborate, communicate and focus on increased student achievement.

eLibrary Elementary

LearningExpressLibrary

Test preparation materials and interactive practice exams based on official tests. Includes academic, civil service, military and professional licensing and certification exams. This product is free to all nonprofit Michigan libraries as part of the Michigan eLibrary sponsored by the Library of Michigan and the Michigan Library Consortium. SIRS Renaissance
A reference database providing current perspectives on the arts and humanities. Available to registered Michigan school and public libraries through the Michigan eLibrary. Contact

SIRS Discoverer Deluxe
Geared towards children from kindergarten to sixth grade, this database is comprised of journal articles, newspapers, radio and television news transcripts, reference books and photos. Available to registered Michigan school and public libraries through the Michigan eLibrary Project. Contact

 eBooks
The MeL Ebooks collection includes over 12,000 full-text books from netLibrary. Books on a wide range of topics for a broad audience are included. Search within the whole collection or within a particular book to find and read the information you want. Once you have created your account at a Michigan library you will be able to access this collection from any computer that can connect to the Internet. Books may be "checked out" for up to 6 hours.

E-Notes is an educational resource used by teachers and students. It contains thousands of literature study guides, lesson plans, literary criticisms.

 Information Center Hours

 

Beginning May 7 through early June the IC will be closed mornings and open from 1:30 - 5:00 pm each day. The Information Media Consultant will be on medical leave. Please call ahead if you are planning to come to the IC to make sure that Kim, the office assistant, is available. Kim's number is 248.209.2174 and her email is kim.clarke@oakland.k12.mi.us


 

Lunch hours

 

Lunch hours vary daily between 11:30 and 1:30. Please call first if you plan to come to the IC during that time.

If you can only come to the IC after 4:30 please contact us to make sure a staff member is here to assist you.
